Planting Instructions

Proper planting and regular watering are important for helping a newly planted tree establish itself successfully.

  1. 1

    Plant as Soon as Possible

Plant the tree as soon as possible after bringing it home.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Planting Area

Remove all grass and weeds within at least a six-inch radius of where the tree will be planted.

  3. 3

    Remove the Container

Carefully remove the tree from its pot before placing it in the planting hole.

  4. 4

    Backfill with Good Topsoil

Plant the tree in good topsoil. Firm the soil gently around the root ball to eliminate large air pockets.

  5. 5

    Stake When Necessary

Stake the tree if it requires additional support while becoming established.

  6. 6

    Water Thoroughly

Water thoroughly after planting and repeat as required. Pay particular attention during hot and dry summer weather.
